Spiritual Formation

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness...”

2 Timothy 3:16

Spiritual Formation Small Groups

Find Freedom

God’s Word is a living, breathing document that we cherish.  We desire to know what God says in His Word and how it impacts our lives.  Through gathering in a small group, we learn together through study, dialogue, spiritual rhythms, relationship and experience.  Ultimately, our desire is to grow in our relationship with Jesus and others!

Bible and Book Study Groups

At the Table Prayer
Mon-Fri, 6-7 AM, Sat/Sun 7-8AM
We meet every morning of the week to bring our prayer requests before the Lord. We pray for one another as well as anyone, in the congregation, who is in need. We spend precious time each week praying for the prodigals in the church as well. Each morning, we walk through the previous day, in the Bible Project Reading Plan, and share our insights.  Anyone is welcome to join us at God's table!

This is a Bible Study group which focuses on Spiritual Formation. Joe is teaching through the book of Acts and Renee is teaching through the the Gospel of Luke. The group has a teaching and discussion format and includes a time of prayer and sharing. It is open to anyone in any age group that wants to grow spiritually and develop friendships. We believe that the Word of God inspires us to hope and life and growth so we work through our understanding of it in relationships, discussion, and practical ways. We hope to aspire and inspire! The group meets yearly and is open to new people at any time. We look forward to meeting you!

Grasping God's Word
Mondays,  7-9 PM
Bobbie and Jimmie Estrada's, Fountain Valley
While Paul commanded all of us to “accurately handle the word of truth,” he did not give us instructions on how to do this. So, 2,000 years later, let’s get at it with the help of Duvall‘s book "Grasping God’s Word." We are meeting in the safe, interactive setting this small group is known to have. Who are we? Eclectic and caring enough to challenge each other to grow. Join us, there is always room for one more! (Currently Meeting in Person in Fountain Valley and always happy to utilize Zoom for those that cannot meet with us in person.)

Adult Bible Discussion
Sundays, 10:30 - 11:45 AM
Not currently meeting
In our Bible study sessions we have a handout with questions related to the text. Anyone is free to speak to the subject with comments or questions. We begin our sessions with praise reports and prayer, and a hymn. Besides our regular Bible study, we occasionally invite a guest speaker from our church, Vanguard or an Assemblies of God Missionary. Members of our class are valued and bless us all by sharing their stories on a particular Sunday. Outside of our regular Sunday group we gather bi-monthly in someone's home for a book discussion. We enjoy our times of fellowship over meals and special occasions.
We are not currently meeting due to the pandemic. Our group will start back up as soon as the restrictions have been lifted and it is safe for all to return.

Exploring the Bible
Mondays, 10:30 AM-1:30 PM

Costa Mesa - Physical gatherings on a patio
This season we are continuing a study in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. The study is an in-depth look at the pilgrims returning from exile to start life again in Israel, along with the rebuilding of the Temple and Wall as well as the Godly ordinances presented to keep them a holy nation. We begin with worship and the lesson and then finish our time with lunch and praying for one another’s needs. Pack your own lunch and join us - all ages are welcome!

Growing Together
Thursdays, 5 - 6:30 PM

Costa Mesa - Meet on their patio
We are going through the book: Oneness: A Biblical view of the race issues in America and the churches involvement. by Tony Evans. We take a half chapter at the time and reread sections that apply to discussion. He writes from his upbringing and experience living in primarily white America and reflects on what he feels is lacking in the Christian church. His perspective is challenging. We are addressing the hope that through Tony's eyes, and the leading of the Holy Spirit, the church will learn how to demonstrate God's compassion to all people! This group is open to all ages.
